To change your Minecraft version, begin by opening the Minecraft launcher. Once the launcher is opened navigate to the left of the green PLAY button and click on the dropdown arrow.
When you click on that drop-down arrow, it will open up a list of all of your installations that you have on your launcher. It will look something like this.
From here, you can select different versions to load by clicking on them and then clicking PLAY. However, if there are not installations or you are unsure of how to add more, navigate to “Installations.”
After opening “Installations,” it will bring you to a screen that looks like this. From here you navigate through your installations and filter them via the drop-down and check-boxes. To make a new installation, click on “New installation.”
When you click this, it will bring you to this page. From here you can change the version of the installation, the directory, the resolution, the name, and the cover image that shows up in the launcher. To change the version you click on the drop-down arrow to the right and select which version. Once you finish customizing the installation click “Create” in the bottom right, and it will create your installation.
Once you click “Create,” you can navigate back to the main page of the launcher, click on the drop-down arrow next to the green PLAY, and select your created installation from the list. Now you can click the PLAY button and load into your desired version of Minecraft.
