OC News Week #8

The Now, The Future & The Goal
To say this week has been hectic for me would be, rather, an appropriate way to put things. But I am
dedicated to keeping you guys up to date with the latest news about Ohanacraft! That said however I must
confess that next weekend there will not be a post as I will be on a trip arriving home Sunday which while
yes, isn’t that far from me, am I really gonna want to write a post after a trip? I don’t know but anyways,
what has happened this week, what is happening and when can we get that final trailer for Safehaven II?
Well to answer your first question, not a lot in fact this week has been slower for Ohanacraft, sure there’s
been the Minecon stuff but- will talk about that in another post coming hopefully later this week anyways,
what has been new? Another thing that happened was oh wait- nothing (lol), alright fine let’s talk Safehaven II and oh boy does this week have news!!
First of all I want to address a few things:

1: Safehaven may not be out in time for the Christmas release, is this confirmed or even likely?

Not really but I have noticed stress over the project and while I want it out by then, if it gets too stressful I’m
gonna pull it again and find a better suited slot for releasing it.

2: The Final Trailer hasn’t even started filming and I don’t know how to do it:

My original thoughts were something action based, but now I want a more moody tone or maybe a sad tone that swells into an
exciting action tone? That I think is the option I’m going with but… well filming it is a big problem. You
see I don’t wanna slap together really poor set pieces, throw in some helpers and say act, I want it to feel
for example like it’s the next Hollywood movie, now will it? I hope so but here is how you can help.

  1. If you have shaders and a recording software msg me, it will give you temp private access to
    Safehaven II content but you will be under a non disclosure agreement which, won’t be too
    serious but if you do spoil stuff, there might be consequences.
  2. If you have been in the film industry or are a writer, write a script for it, I can do so and most
    likely will but maybe I don’t have to!
  3. If you’re a music composer, compose the music you think would fit and then send it to me and
    from there the rest will be shaped for the trailers tone and goals.
    But let’s talk about what has been going on, first off, new dungeon submission from J677 and the “Bald
    squad!” AKA Worm and PizzaKevin14, they have gone ahead and let me use some of their builds for
    structures in Safehaven II! Is this old news yes, but hey it’s something! Another big announcement is
    complete backend rewrites yes, some features have gotten messed up or I’ve thought of ways to reform
    them, heck even the item model storage is different here’s an example:
    The original file path for the sand sword was this
    models/custom_items/sand_sword
    The new one is now:
    models/custom_items/gear/weaponery/swords/sand_sword
    Why does this matter? Because it keeps the files less cluttered which makes me more happy! Lol
    But I know you don’t wanna hear about files and bug fixes even though those are important, you want
    footage, you want creatures and today I present a new mob!
    The Pillager & Ghost Pillager Bandits, let’s start with the first! The Pillager Bandit can spawn in a new
    structure located in the Badlands. It’s basically a buffed up pillager with possibly some dangerous but
    great weaponry? Anyways when they perish they will have a chance to turn into a ghost form and let me
    say this, they are not fun to fight, in fact they are very deadly ensuring that you will have a challenge!
    Now what’s the treasure that you will gather from these creatures? Unknown at this time but one could
    assume emeralds perhaps?
    But what about footage, gameplay, devlogs? Well I am happy to announce Devlog #2 will be premiering
    hopefully by the end of October, or November, it’s been in a rough development stage with footage being
    shot then scrapped, and such but it will include lots of spoilers and some pre release gameplay pieces. Pre
    Release? Not like the ones Minecraft does no, in this sense I mean content that is basically finalized and
    ready for release, so basically I may have segments showing content that is about or close to being ready
    to release.

    I did promise a Minecon Live 2020 and 1.20 recap post so that it will be arriving later this week !
