Hello and welcome to my second-ever Ohananews blog post! I’m Mayonaka, of course, and I’m here to do another out-of-the-blue interview, this time with Prism_Skywalker, AKA Joe! He’s been working on a project for a while, and today I’m going to talk to him about it! All right, enough chitchat, let’s jump right in!
✿❃❀✻ꕤ✻❀❃✿❃❀✻ꕤ✻❀❃✿
Q: Hi, Joe! I’m aware you’re currently working on a project called Safehaven 2. For those readers that don’t know, what exactly is Safehaven 2?
A: It is a custom survival server for players to play on using datapacks, resourcepacks and plugins to add tons of new content to the game.
Q: Oh wow, that sounds amazing!! Tell me, what gave you the idea, the inspiration, to build Safehaven 2? What was your largest motivation?
A: I can’t discuss all my inspirations but, I did mainly get inspired by Minecraft command creators online plus I have issues with Slimefun as I have the thinking it could’ve been more custom so that’s what I did with Safehaven 2! A more custom survival!
Q: I think it’s really cool how you saw something that inspired you, so you decided to utilize your own skills and imagination to make something GREAT! All right—you’ve got me excited. How close are you to completing the Safehaven 2 project? Do you have a tentative release date in mind?
A: I have a date, I will not say. But I am pretty close, I need to fix a lot of bugs but… I need to make sure it’s all fun and works well.
Q: No rush! The longer something takes to complete, the better it’ll be! Now, I know a lot of content has already been added to this project. Do you have any future plans for Safehaven and other projects?
A: I have no plans for Safehaven III as of right now and after SH2 apart from updates, I’d like to focus on my own personal projects.
Q: Understandable! So, datapacks. Not something I’m particularly knowledgable about. May I ask why you chose to use datapacks instead of plugins or mods? What are some benefits to using datapacks?
A: Well I use plugins too but the main reason I use a lot of datapacks is because that’s what I’m used to. Mods? Those are too hard to install especially for young players.
Q: Wow, that makes a lot of sense! It’s cool you’re thinking of things like that. Anyway, Safehaven 2 seems to me like a large project. Have you done the majority on your own, or are there people who’ve helped you along the way? What are some types of things they’ve done to contribute to the project?
A: I’ve got a big team, they have helped by building structures, testing, doing textures and models etc. I am so grateful to have their help!
Q: It does sound like a lot of work. The job is quicker and more interesting when you have people to work on it with! Last question: Can you think of a few existing Safehaven 2 features that particularly excite you that you’d be willing to tell us about right now?
A: Uh new structures, new mobs such as collies and awesome machinery.
Q: I’m sorry, did you just say COLLIES? Are my ears deceiving me?? Looking forward to that! It seems like Safehaven 2 will have plenty of content to discover! Thank you so much for taking the time to answer these questions, and keep up the good work, Joe!
